Dr. Stephen Salanski, President Elect 2015

salanski, steveDr. Salanski is Program Director for the Research Family Medicine Residency Program at Research Medical Center. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Medical Society of Greater Kansas City for five years. He is very involved in quality improvement initiatives and co-chairs the Kansas City Quality Improvement Consortium (KCQIC) which has written several chronic illness guidelines for use throughout the Kansas City medical community. KCQIC currently oversees a number of community-wide QI projects funded by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and CMS. He serves as co-chair of the Center for Practical Bioethics Ethics Committee Consortium (which includes representatives of ethics committees from most Kansas City area hospitals), as well as co-chairing the Lee’s Summit Health Education Advisory Board. Dr. Salanski also serves on the Board of Directors of the Baptist-Trinity Lutheran Legacy Foundation -which oversees the Kansas City Medicine Cabinet program that provides emergency medical funding assistance to underserved individuals in the KC Metro area. At Research Medical Center, Dr. Salanski is a member of the Medical Executive Committee, Ethics Committee, and chairs the Bylaws Committee. In 2006, he co-chaired a grass roots committee “Vote Yes Clean Air Lee’s Summit” which placed a clean indoor air ordinance on the ballot in Lee’s Summit. The ordinance passed with a 71% majority – making Lee’s Summit one of the first smoke-free communities in the KC Greater Region. Dr. Salanski did his undergraduate work at the University of Kansas, then received his medical degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine and completed his residency at Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City. He spent twelve years as a Family Physician in Lee’s Summit before returning to the Residency Program as Faculty in 1999.
