Volunteer for the JayDoc Free Clinic

JayDoc operates as an urgent care clinic on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5pm-10pm. Our mission focuses on two ideas: first and foremost, JayDoc is a place where patients in need can receive free medical care and secondly, JayDoc also focuses on student education. As such, KU students (typically first and second years) drive patient encounters. They will interview the patient to the best of their ability, present to our volunteer physicians, and together create a differential, diagnosis, and plan for the patient. In addition to our general clinics, JayDoc operates several specialty nights where patients can receive more directed care: Diabetes, Women’s Health, PT, OT, Ophthamology, Radiology, and Dermatology (currently being established). We also provide social services to patients as well as mental health and dietetics counseling when available.

Physicians typically arrive to JayDoc at 6pm for their shift and we try to be finished between 9-10pm. Generally, we see between 13-18 patients per evening. Click here to download a physician handbook that gives a brief outline of some of the services JayDoc provides. We operate out of Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care Clinic on the NE corner of Rainbow Blvd. and Southwest Blvd. In terms of scheduling, volunteer physicians submit their availability on a monthly basis to a central email account, jaydocphysicians@gmail.com.
