On January 9, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly and Senate Majority Leader Jim Denning announced a bipartisan compromise plan to expand Medicaid in Kansas. Legislation has been drafted and introduced (SB 252)
Hearings on SB 252 began January 23 in the Kansas Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee and will continue the week of January 27. Pending committee action, a full Senate vote could be held quickly. Last year, Medicaid expansion passed the House but was blocked in the Senate.
